Dr. Rajesh Khurana
Head of the Department
Dr Rajesh Khurana has more than 25 years of experience in teaching, research, extension and animal health services. He joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology, College of Veterinary Sciences, Hisar on 15th March, 1995. Subsequently, he was promoted to the post of Associate Professor and Professor in the year 2004 and 2010, respectively. Currently Dr Khurana is having responsibility of Head of this Department since April, 2022. He is also the in-charge of Disease Free Small Animal House since November 2020. Dr Khurana is having expertise in the diagnosis of various commonly prevalent animal diseases particularly skin diseases, toxicological disease investigations and public health. He has written more than 50 research articles in journals of National and International repute. Dr Khurana has contributed in more than 20 books, compendiums, teaching and training manuals for undergraduate and postgraduate students of veterinary science. He has also organized animal welfare camps, World RabiesDay, World Zoonosis Day etc. for the awareness of public and farmers on various aspects of zoonotic diseases. Dr Khurana also bagged best research article award on paper entitled “Pesticide induced immune-complex mediated glomerulonephritis in sheep”. He has guided three Ph.D. and six post graduate students with thesis on dermatology, toxicological, food hygiene and epidemiological aspects of veterinary sciences. Currently under his guidance, department is working for the diagnosis of deadly diseases viz African swine fever, lumpy skin disease, avian influenza along with investigation of outbreaks encountered in the state of Haryana.
