Dr. Manoj Kumar Rose took over the charge as Dean, Post Graduate Studies on 01.04.2022. He joined the University as Assistant Professor in May, 1995 and served the University in different capacities such as Head, Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry, Coordinator of Examinations and presently also serving as the Director Extension Education. He has vast national and international experience. He has been awarded German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) fellowship for carrying out Ph.D. research work in Germany. He has a successful track record of strong scientific publications. He has more than 60 National and International research articles, popular articles, books / book chapters and practical manuals to his credit. He has a demonstrable supervision of a successful laboratory as a Principal and Co Principal Investigator of different research projects. He has been a dedicated, resourceful and goal-driven professional educator with a solid commitment to the academic growth of every student and awarded Best Teacher Award of LUVAS for the Year 2016-17. He has dynamic skills in planning, coordinating, organizing and guiding the Post Graduate education programmes of the university.

Consequent upon the establishment of Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the office of Dean Post-graduate Studies was created to run the post graduate programmes at the University and the office started its functioning w.e.f. 22nd March 2011 under the administrative and technical control of the Dean Post-graduate Studies, LUVAS, Hisar.

The Dean Post-graduate Studies has been entrusted the responsibility of planning post-graduate education at the University in consultation with Heads of the departments and Deans of the constituent colleges and monitoring and regulations of Dean Post-graduate teaching in accordance with the rules and regulations as approved by the academic council. Further the Dean PGS is responsible for the coordination of research of the post-graduate students and its integration with the thrust areas of research approved by the directorate of research of the University. It is the prime responsibility of the Dean PGS to maintain high standards of post graduate education and research at the university.

The office of the Dean Post-graduate Studies basically shoulders the following responsibilities.

  1. To revise and update the course curriculum of P.G. programmes in tune with the ICAR/VCI recommendations and keeping in view the specific requirements of the state.
  2. To monitor post graduate teaching and research and to enforce students discipline at post graduate level.
  3. To conduct the activities such as P.G students admission, registration in courses and other activities, approval of programme of work and plan of research for thesis, appointment of examiners, evaluation of thesis, preparation of report cards and transcripts, providing degrees, selections for gold medals etc. and maintenance of records of PG students.

Postgraduate Programmes

Currently the University is offering Master of Veterinary Science and Doctor of Philosophy degree programmes in 17 disciplines of the faculties of Veterinary Science and Animal Science and Master of Technology in 04 disciplines of College of Dairy Sciences and Technology.
Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences is among the top choices of the students from other states securing admission in P.G. programmes through competitive exams conducted by ICAR and other National agencies and foreign students from countries like Nigeria and Afganistan prefer to study in various disciplines for M.V.Sc /Ph.D programmes.

The University provides merit stipend/stipend to all the M.V.Sc/M.Tech./Ph.D students admitted against Haryana Residents seats. The value of the Merit Stipend/Stipend is Rs.9000/- and Rs. 4500/- for M.V.Sc and Rs. 15000/- and Rs. 7500/- for Ph.D. The students also compete for JRF/SRF offered by the ICAR, DBT, DST, CSIR and ICMR and many of them have bagged these prestigious fellowships. LUVAS JRF for MVSc. Students @Rs 10,000/- per month and SRF for PhD. students@ Rs. 15000/- per month has been announced w.e.f. 01/08/2018.
In order to inculcate competitiveness among post- graduate students, the university is awarding Gold Medals on the basis of their merit and quality of thesis.

Presently our University is following the rules and regulations as prescribed in Chapter III of University Calendar Vol. II of LUVAS, Hisar.
