Dr Sonia Sindhu, dynamic personality having an international exposure working in the field of Veterinary Physiology has more than 25 years’ experience of teaching and research. She joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Physiology, College of Veterinary Sciences on 5th MAY, 1995.She did her Ph.D from University of Strathclyde,Glasgow, UK .She was recipient of ‘University of Strathclyde Award’ studentship for doing Ph.D. in Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland, U.K. She was promoted to the post of Associate Professor and Professor in the year 2006 and 2012, respectively. Currently Dr Sonia Sindhu is having responsibility of Head of this Department since Nov., 2021. She is Chairperson of the “Institutional Animal Ethics Committee” of College of Veterinary Sciences, LUVAS. Dr Sindhu was Associate Director Student’s Welfare, LUVAS from April 2018 to June 2022. She was also the In-charge of Disease Free Small Animal House from Sept 2018 to Nov. 2020. Dr Sindhu also recieved “Best teacher award 2018-19”of LUVAS. She has written more than 30 research articles in journals of National and International repute. Dr Sonia has contributed in more than 15 books, compendiums, teaching manuals for undergraduate and postgraduate students of Veterinary Sciences. She has guided one Ph.D. and three post graduate students. Currently under her guidance, department is running Four State Research Schemes and Seven Externally Funded Projects on various aspects of omics study, therapeutics and reproductive aspects of animal and farmer welfare.
