About College

College of Dairy Science and Technology (CODST) was established in the year 2014 as another progressive step of LUVAS to strengthen the dairy production and processing sector in the state of Haryana. Primary mission of college is to develop highly professional dairy specialists through value based education, research and training in dairy technology for meeting technological and societal needs. To accomplish this mission following objectives were set.

  • To organize teaching programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in dairy science and technology for human resource development for the dairy sector. 
  • To undertake research in new area of milk processing technologies. 
  • To organize training programmes, consultancy services and formulate package of practices in the area of milk processing technologies to disseminate scientific knowledge to the end user.

To meet these objectives, the college has adopted three tier dairy educational system i.e Bachelor and Master level degree programmes, diploma level programmes and certificate courses. From the academic year 2016-17, college has started 4 year graduate programme offering Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in Dairy Technology with the course curriculum prepared by considering the recommendations of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. The college has a capacity of admitting 26 students of Haryana who are selected on the basis of entrance test conducted by the University for students who have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

The college has following five departments: 

  • Dairy Technology 
  • Dairy Engineering 
  • Dairy Chemistry
  • Dairy Microbiology
  • Dairy Business Management 

The college will start other courses later on subsequent to further development in infrastructure.  

Upcoming curriculum

  • Master level programmes 
  • Diploma level courses: Two years Diploma in Dairy Technology after 10+2 (PCM) 
  • Certificate courses / specialized courses: The college will offer the certificate courses under vocational programmes meant for the entrepreneurs who are interested in establishing small scale milk processing units. Specialized courses for in-service trainees from the various departments, milk producers and milk processing plants officials will be started in the areas viz; Dairy Business Management, Indigenous Milk Products, Value Added / Export Oriented Dairy Products, Dairy Plant Operation, Dairy Laboratory Analysis and Dairy Plant Maintenance.
