Fostering Innovation in Veterinary, Animal and Dairy Sciences

In 2022, the Core Group of the Intellectual Property Rights Management and Commercialization Unit, Directorate of HRM, LUVAS, proposed the establishment of a “Technology Incubation Centre (TIC)” at the Directorate of HRM, LUVAS. In alignment with the guidelines of the Prime Minister’s Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, launched by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India, the TIC was subsequently established at LUVAS.

The Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) at LUVAS is dedicated to nurturing and accelerating innovative ideas that advance veterinary, animal, and dairy sciences. Our mission is to translate pioneering research into practical products and services that enhance animal health, welfare, and productivity, adding value to dairy and livestock products for the benefit of society.

We aim to be a leading hub for technological innovation and entrepreneurship in veterinary, animal, and dairy sciences. We strive to drive advancements that improve animal health and well-being through collaborative efforts, foster sustainable practices, and promote economic growth in Haryana.

PMFME Scheme: Boosting Micro Food Processing Enterprises

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India, launched the Prime Minister Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme to support the up-gradation of existing and new Micro Food Processing Enterprises (MFPEs), Farmer’s Producer’s Organizations (FPOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs), and Cooperatives in Haryana. As part of this initiative, Technology Incubation Centers play a pivotal role in promoting One District One Product (ODOP).

Under the PMFME scheme, micro-entrepreneurs, SHGs, FPOs, and cooperatives can utilize the Technology Incubation Center at LUVAS to manufacture their products without capital investment. This facility is equipped to provide essential support and resources to empower local enterprises and promote economic sustainability.

Processing Lines at TIC, LUVAS

The Technology Incubation Center (TIC) at LUVAS, funded under the PMFME scheme, offers comprehensive support through specialized processing lines. These processing lines are tailored to meet the diverse needs of the veterinary, animal sciences, and dairy industries, focusing on innovative solutions and sustainable practices.

  1. Milk & Milk Products

The dairy sector is crucial for nutritional security and economic stability, especially in rural areas. This processing line focuses on the development and enhancement of milk and milk-based products.

Support Provided:

  • Quality Testing: Ensuring that raw milk meets quality standards before processing.
  • Pasteurization: Utilizing high-temperature short-time (HTST) pasteurization techniques to eliminate harmful bacteria while retaining nutritional value.
  • Homogenization: Breaking down fat molecules in milk to create a uniform and stable product.
  • Cheese Production: Offering facilities for the production of various types of cheese, including hard, soft, and processed cheeses.
  • Yogurt and Fermented Products: Providing resources for the production of yogurt, kefir, and other fermented milk products.
  • Packaging Solutions: Advanced packaging facilities to extend the shelf life of milk products while maintaining quality.

  • Vermicomposting: Uses earthworms to turn animal manure into high-quality, nutrient-rich vermicomposting.
  • Dung Products: Transforms animal dung into dung cakes, and organic fertilizers, creating additional revenue streams for farmers.
